Week 2: She is learning pets feel nice
By day 2 she felt comfortable laying down and resting her head. This is so good because she doesn't feel the need to pace and shake and constantly survey a hostile environment.
After a few days, she was already walking up to us to sniff our ankles if she thought we "couldn't see her".
When I get her in a corner, we can reach out and pet her without her freaking out like a jumping spider. She'll let me pet her chest, move up to her neck and she doesn't shake.
I have been able to clean gunk from her under eye without much teeth gritting. I was able to check her nails to see if they needed trimming. While we work on potty training, I was able to pick her up and wash her paws and wipe down her chest. Her tummy is still a sensitive area, not because there is pain, but it's a VERY vulnerable area for a fearful dog. By the end of being handled, I was able to give her a kiss on the forehead 3 times and her heartbeat was no longer racing.
So proud of this little girl!
